Workplan

This page offers an overview of the work involved in CROSCOG

CROSCOG runs over 24 months from 1 March 2007 to 28 February 2009. The project has three major phases:

The sites and cases that are the backbone of CROSCOG are shown in the table beneath. Three sites have more than one case because two relevant ecosystems are found within the same area. These sites will be particularly important because they will be places where households and communities can be found that exploit two different kinds of commons.

CROSCOG is organized into seven Work Packages. Work Package 1 deals with the overall coordination of the project and handles the website, brochure, international dissemination activities and reports to the Commission.

Work Packages 2 through 4 are the Eco-system Work Packages. These WP teams are directly responsible for the production of the case papers for the workshops and further dissemination.

Work Packages 5 and 6 are the Theme Work Packages. These WP teams are responsible for the development of the cross-cutting themes through ongoing interaction with the case teams. This will be done by distributing information of interest, including internal theme discussion papers, and visiting case study sites. They are also responsible for the practical organization of the workshops, the invitation of special speakers, involvement of local stakeholders in the workshops. Finally the theme discussion papers after the workshops will be rewritten into high quality articles for submission to peer reviewed journals.

Work Package 7 is the Local Dissemination Work Package. This WP team is responsible for the targeted dissemination of project results to two audiences. The first is managers and policy makers in southern Africa who will be the audience of the policy brief. The second is local community members who will be the audience of the media outreach through radio broadcasts and newspaper stories that carry the messages produced by the project and information sheets for local community conservation activists.
